Within the framework of the profile, students will gain knowledge and master the most important tool for introducing modern technologies into the practice of geological exploration, which is geological and technological research of wells (GTI). This segment of geological exploration provides operational geological, geochemical, geophysical and technological information during the construction and further operation of wells.
Improving the efficiency of the development of the hydrocarbon resource base in the Volga region and in Russia as a whole is impossible without a rational combination of geophysical, geological and technological methods of mining the Earth's interior. An integrated approach determines the training of a new generation of specialists with in-depth knowledge of regional geology, geophysics, economics, and the organization of oil and gas production.
The Faculty of Geology has established effective creative relations with enterprises of the oil and gas industry. As a result, during the training process, not only the technical base of enterprises is used, but also the intelligence of leading specialists. Specialists of the organizations participate in the discussion of curricula, term papers and theses, organize training trips to exploration and production wells.
The effectiveness of the educational process is ensured at the faculty by the possibility of using unique software technologies, such as: universal computerized training complexes "Geological and technological research in the process of drilling wells, simulating the work of GTI" and "Complications and pre-emergency situations in the process of drilling oil and gas wells". Software packages include theoretical material and practical tasks. It is aimed at geologists engaged in exploration and drilling of oil and gas wells, as well as operators and technologists of geological and technological research stations. The central element of the complex is a simulator, which allows you to develop stable skills of working with a geological and technological research station in different conditions.
