"Russian Language and Education Promotion in Africa" project organized excursions to Engels and the Space Explorers Park on September 19 and 20 for foreign colleagues who visited Saratov State University. Yuri Gagarin, as well as to the village of Lokh.
On Saturday, the foreign guests viewed the diorama of the city of Engels and learned about the main stages of its development, the history of the Volga Germans, the symbol of the city — the bull-salt carrier, and also strolled through the city park and honored the memory of those who fell at the Eternal Flame. In the Cosmonauts Gallery, the guests listened with special awe to stories about the professional exploits of Soviet and Russian cosmonauts, and then walked along the "108—Minute Path" - a route symbolizing the duration of the first space flight. On Sunday, the African colleagues were guided through the most picturesque places of the village of Lokh, including Kudiyarova Mountain, and told the story of the destroyed church. As part of the tour, everyone was invited to join a traditional Russian lunch, as well as taste honey from the local apiary and jam prepared by the villagers. The tour ended with fascinating master classes on traditional crafts of Russia.
