On the eve of its annual Model UN, Saratov State University hosted a lecture for international students titled "80 Years of the UN."
Vladimir Alexandrovich Shashko—member of the SSU Board of Trustees, Chairman of the Saratov Regional Branch of the Russian Association for UN Assistance, and Director of ANO IRSEPI—delivered the lecture. He detailed the UN's history, the roles of its key committees, and core principles like universal equality and timeless values in today's world.
Afterward, SSU international students shared their responses. Harkouche Shaimaa, a fourth-year student at the Institute of History and International Relations, presented on Morocco's regional and global role. Kedessina Gnoyarou, a first-year graduate student at the Faculty of Humanities, Russian, and Foreign Languages, discussed pressing challenges in her native Togo and the UN's role in addressing them.
All attendees received memorable gifts featuring UN symbols.
