On November 27, the Day of Chinese Culture, prepared by Russian and foreign students, as well as teachers from the Institute of Philology and Journalism and the International Service of the SSU, was held at the V.A. Artisevich SSU. The Vice-Rector for International Affairs, S. A. Shilova, delivered a welcoming speech. Svetlana Alekseevna noted the advantages of cooperation with Chinese universities and stressed the importance of Chinese Culture Day for the development of intercultural dialogue and strengthening friendly ties. The festival program included performances on various aspects of Chinese culture. The audience had the opportunity to enjoy traditional dances, see a demonstration of the martial art of tai chi, hear both classical and modern music, as well as learn about the natural attractions of China and take part in a quiz. The second part of the event was held in the XI building of the university and included a master class in calligraphy, a mahjong game and a quiz about the history and culture of China. The students of the two countries quickly found a common language and gained a unique experience of communicating in an informal setting. Each festival of Chinese culture is another important step towards further cooperation and effective interaction between Saratov University and universities in China.
