Physical Geography and Landscape Studies

The basic bachelor's degree program implemented by Saratov State University at the Faculty of Geography in the field of study 05.03.02 Geography and the profile of study "Physical Geography and Landscape Studies" based on the federal state educational standard of higher education. The bachelor's degree program aims to develop students' personal qualities, as well as the formation of cultural, general professional and professional competencies that contribute to their demand in the labor market and are necessary for successful professional activity in the field of geography, in accordance with the requirements of the Federal State Educational Standard for Higher Education in the field of 05.03.02 Geography. In the field of education, the general objectives of the Bachelor's degree program are: training in the fundamentals of humanities, social sciences, economics, mathematics, and natural sciences; training in methods of geoinformation mapping and satellite data processing, the use of GIS technologies; graduate training for research activities in the field of geography, environmental management and other environmental sciences in academic institutions and universities under the guidance of specialists and qualified researchers; graduate training for design and production activities in the field of geography, in the development of projects of practical recommendations for the analysis and conservation of the natural environment at different levels; graduate preparation for continuing education in graduate and postgraduate studies. The purpose of the Bachelor's degree in "Physical Geography and Landscape Studies" is: training of professional personnel with knowledge of global, regional and local physico-geographical processes. formation of ideas about anthropogenic changes in the geographical shell and its subsystems and the forecast of these changes; formation of complex views on the structure, evolution and dynamics of the physical and geographical process; the study of the genesis, evolution, dynamics and functioning of the geographical shell and its individual subsystems; the natural resource potential of landscapes and its use in the national economic complex of the Saratov region; familiarization with landscape genesis in specific regional forms, in particular, in the Saratov region and the Lower Volga region.
